- You are concerned about privacy.
- You no longer need the features it offers.
Instead of permanently removing LogMeIn, I recommend simply disabling it until you actually need it. When LogMeIn is "disabled" on your computer, it's still installed & ready for use whenever you decide, but completely unavailable to *anyone* remotely until you do re-enable it.
To disable LogMeIn, simply:
- Locate its gray with blue dots System Tray icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- When you find it, right-click on it to bring up a menu of choices.
- Click the Disable LogMeIn option.
- When asked if you're sure you want to disable, click Yes.
- After a short while, LogMeIn will be disabled & its System Tray icon will now have a red "x" on it indicating such.
If you decide you still want to remove LogMeIn completely:
Think about the above thought for a while before acting, but if you still decide you’d rather not have LogMeIn, it’s two steps (only one is needed to permanently disconnect you, but doing the other ensures a full cleanup).
1. Uninstall LogMeIn from your computer (assumes Windows XP):
- Click on the Start Menu & click on Control Panel
- Double-click on Add or Remove Programs
- Scroll down & click on LogMeIn
- Click the Remove button
- Click Yes to confirm that you really want to uninstall it & follow the rest of the prompts.
- Close all windows when complete. You may want/need to reboot your computer.
- Log into LogMeIn.com Website using the e-mail address for your main account.
- Under the Settings column, click the Edit link.
- Click the big “Delete this computer” button at the bottom of the page.
- Follow the prompts to ensure proper removal of the computer entry.
