When closing Internet Explorer 7, you may sometimes receive an error window telling you that Internet Explorer closed unexpectedly. Furthermore, you may see something similar to the following in the error:
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16512, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x02400feb.
This problem is almost always caused by either the Yahoo! Toolbar add-on or the Yahoo! Browser Services add-on.
To resolve this issue, do the following:
1. Close all open windows.
2. Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs.
3. Wait a bit for the list of installed programs to appear. When they do, scroll to the bottom & find all the "Yahoo!" related programs.
4. Uninstall each one (except for Yahoo! Messenger, which doesn't affect Internet Explorer), click on it to highlight the program.
5. Click on the Remove button & follow the prompts to finish removing the program(s).
6. Although not absolutely necessary, it is recommended that you reboot your computer to ensure all changes are made.
7. Try opening & closing Internet Explorer 7 again to see if the problem is gone.
Most people don't want or need the Yahoo! Toolbar or other features, so you can safely remove these programs & leave them off.
If, however, you need the Yahoo! Toolbar, feel free to try re-installing it from: http://www.yahoo.com . If the error re-appears, then you at least now know what's causing it! :-)
